Giorgi Giorgobiani

Professor of General Surgery and Head of the Department of General Surgery at Tbilisi State Medical University (TSMU). He graduated with honors from TSMU and completed postgraduate training in general surgery, obtaining his MD, PhD degree in 2000. He received advanced surgical training in pancreatic and hernia surgery at Derriford Hospital, UK, and holds UEMS and European Board of Surgery qualifications. Prof. Giorgobiani has held senior leadership roles, including Medical Director at Aversi Hospital and currently at European Hospital. He is a Board Member of the European Society of Surgery and served as its President in 2009 and 2024.
