Marie Morris is an international leader in healthcare education with more than 35 years of experience across clinical practice, academic leadership, and educational innovation. A former critical care nurse in the UK, she has become known for reshaping how healthcare professionals are trained through evidence-based, simulation-driven, and interprofessional learning models.
She holds a PhD in Surgical Education, an MSc in Clinical Medicine, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Higher Education from Trinity College Dublin. Her work blends rigorous scholarship with practical program design — including her role as designer and program lead of the RCSI Masters in Surgical Science and Practice.
Marie’s contributions have earned multiple top-tier awards, such as the Provost’s Award for Teaching Excellence, the National Teaching Hero Award, and repeated Dean’s Awards for Innovation in Teaching and Assessment. She has published more than 40 peer-reviewed papers and delivers regular presentations at national and international forums.
She currently serves as National Representative to EACH and Head of Assessment for the Fellowship of the European Board of General Surgery Examinations. Her core expertise includes communication skills training, interprofessional simulation, curriculum design, faculty development, and assessment strategy.
