Muhammad Umair

Mr. Muhammad Umair serves as Director of Communications for the Division of General Surgery and Chairperson of the European Surgical Fellows Network (ESFNetwork). He is a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon in Ireland with a specialist interest in inflammatory bowel disease and gastrointestinal oncology. A Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and the American College of Surgeons, he also completed a Clinical Fellowship in Colorectal Surgery at the University of Hull.

His academic interests focus on surgical education, professional development, clinical decision-making, and surgical outcomes. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and delivered invited lectures internationally. Mr. Umair previously served as Clinical Lead for CPD Technical Skills Courses at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, contributing to the advancement of surgical training.

As an Executive Member and Director of Communications for the European Board of General Surgery, he works to enhance surgical standards and education across Europe while mentoring emerging surgeons through the European Surgical Fellows Network.
